Surviving R Kelly is
the documentary trending on top these days, its main role is to expose the
singer for years of unproven exploitation against young women. Several exes of
R Kelly are featuring in the show, as well as few of those singers who have
collaborated with the 51-year-old over the recent time period. Women including
Lisa VanAllen, Sparkle, and Lizzette Martinez are appearing, speaking about
their experiences with R Kelly and things they’ve perceived that shivered them
to their core. John Legend is also in the show, which has provoked many to admire
him to shirking the ‘Boys Club’ mindset that is existing in a number of
industries.
The documentary is being aired over three nights on Lifetime in the United States, staring last night (3 January) and ongoing on until Saturday 5 January. Regrettably, this is limited to the United States, which means there is no possible way to watch it across the globe.
What you can
do in the meanwhile is to watch the several video clips uploaded on the Lifetime YouTube channel. Several
other series from Lifetime have made their way to British Netflix, it also
seems possible that this might happen in the future. At this time there are no
plans for this documentary.
You
can watch the “Surviving R Kelly” documentary on the Lifetime website in the United States.
All the episodes
will be available to watch online soon after transmission on Thursday, January
4, Friday, January 5 and Saturday, January 6 for audiences with particular
cable packages.
However, at
present there are no plans to bring the documentary R Kelly series to United Kingdom,
making it hard to watch in the United Kingdom.
The
R Kelly documentary series also includes discussions with famous celebs like
singer John Legend as well as Kelly's ex-wife Andrea Kelly and his
ex-girlfriend Kitti Jones, who both stated that they were abused by the rapper.
However, the
documentary series does not feature discussions with a several former R Kelly
collaborator, who apparently rejected to appear on the R Kelly series
documentary.
As executive
producer dream Hampton told Detroit Free Press: “It was incredibly difficult to
get people who had collaborated with Kelly to come forward”.
“We asked Lady
Gaga. We asked Erykah Badu. We asked Celine Dion. We asked Jay-Z and we asked
Dave Chappelle”.
Surviving
